There is nothing like a cup of coffee, a glass of wine or even a water with lemon and undistracted time to get our organizational brains thinking about goals, tasks, to-do’s and follow-ups.

Like Oprah says in the opening to her podcasts, “Give yourself the gift of time”. I couldn’t agree more. Dreams, visions, answers and logistics will come to you when you do this.

Now that you have allowed yourself thinking time to get organized, decide on your plan(s) and estimate the time it will take you to complete the plan of action. Then, plot this amount of time(s) on whatever device you have decided to call a calendar/planner. Whether it’s Evernote or a white piece of note paper, do what comes easiest for you.

If you follow the above advice, the next thing to do is literally, to do the thing, task, chore, project, etc. that is on your schedule. This may sound simple but lots of folks decide not to do what they said they wanted to do. Some call it procrastination, some call it laziness, and some call it prioritizing. It doesn’t matter what your reason is, there might be an excellent reason why you can’t do something at that assigned moment.

But, if you want to get something done, do it when you say you’re going to perform that To-Do and get it done. Otherwise, you will have to reschedule it and kick the can down the road (aka calendar) again. So, bite the bullet and push through.
