Going into my 9th year as a professional organizer, I am continually asked when helping clients de-clutter their possessions, “Will anyone want this?” To me, the answer is always a resounding YES.
So to help you follow through on your end relative to donating, selling, recycling (or even junking an item), POSSE has recently updated our “De-Cluttering Resource List” which gives you lots of options for eliminating items from your home that others would be thankful for.
If you would like a copy of this two-page document, please email me here and we would be happy to send it to your e-mail box. Consider this a “thank you” from POSSE for reading our ezines and helping us to grow the business. And before you generously help others with your donations, say a little prayer of gratitude for the opportunity you have had to have them yourself and then let them go.
Somewhere in my company’s infancy I realized that there was an overwhelming amount of material possessions in my clients homes that were no longer wanted on behalf of the homeowner but these things were definitely not junk. These belongings were perfectly functional items albeit clothes, furniture or trinkets. They needed to go somewhere else to live and be utilized in a “second life” by another person that would be thrilled to have those items.
A vision came to me, I saw a globe encircled by a conveyor belt. When you didn’t want something in your house, you would put that item on the conveyor belt. Then, in another part of the world a person who needed the item you didn’t want would go to the conveyor belt and retrieve it for his/her use.
If you can help me to make my dream come true or even know a great resource for donation purposes, please do not hesitate to contact me. In the meanwhile, don’t be a turkey, let someone else take pleasure from bits and pieces in your home that no longer fits your lifestyle. You’ll both be thankful.
